Riding Forward’s mission is to advocate, educate and develop today’s youth and communities to reach their full potential through partnerships involving two wheeled sports.

We accomplish this by doing fun things like getting involved in mentorship programs, administering healthy living ideas, hosting bike skills clinics and revitalizing parks to better serve the cycling community. All of these things are great for the community but they do require funding to be successful.

In 2015, Riding Forward partnered with Boone County Parks to build the regions first bike park.  The park was designed and built by Riding Forward staff and volunteers who spent over 2,000 hours shaping and sculpting the dirt to perfection. The result was a 5 acre park dedicated to cycling specific features where riders of all ages could come exercise, build their skills, hangout with friends or even meet some new ones.  This park will be the site for the Broken Spoke Festival that serves as a fundraiser for the local non-profit, Riding Forward that dedicated so much time to making it happen for the community.

The Broken Spoke Festival is the first of its kind in our region.  Combining all types of cycling events, a 100% local music lineup, a great showcase of local artist vendors AND a food truck alley under one festival atmosphere will create a community gathering that is second to none.  This festival’s “LOCAL” vibe will be an inviting environment for all types of folks, from a family of four to a single young professional.
